Little Hands, Big Help

Little Hands, Big Help is our baby and family essentials donation scheme. It gives people in the community the opportunity to donate suitable baby items, children’s essentials and family support items so they can be passed on to mothers, expectant mothers, parents, carers, babies and children experiencing hardship, crisis or isolation.

Many families struggle to access basic essentials such as nappies, wipes, clothing, baby supplies, hygiene products and household items. Through Little Hands, Big Help, donated items can be reused with care and passed on to families who need practical support.

Every donation, big or small, can help reduce pressure on a family and make sure babies and children have access to essential items.

How can I donate?

If you would like to donate baby equipment, children’s items or family essentials, please complete our Donation Form first.

This helps us understand:

  • what items you would like to donate;

  • the condition of the items;

  • whether the items are suitable for families;

  • when and where the items can be collected or dropped off;

  • whether we currently have storage space;

  • whether the items match current family needs.

Once we receive your form, someone from the charity will contact you to confirm whether we can accept the donation and arrange the next steps.

What can be donated?

We may accept suitable items such as:

  • baby clothes;

  • children’s clothing;

  • nappies and wipes;

  • unopened hygiene products;

  • baby blankets;

  • children’s shoes;

  • toys and books;

  • school items;

  • baby essentials;

  • household essentials;

  • children’s bedding, where suitable;

  • creative materials;

  • family support items.

We may also consider larger baby equipment depending on safety, condition, storage space and current need.

What condition should donated items be in?

All donated items must be:

  • clean;

  • safe;

  • suitable for babies, children or families;

  • free from damage;

Please only donate items that you would feel comfortable giving to a family member or friend.

Before items are given to families, they will be checked by the charity to make sure they are suitable and safe.

What happens after I donate?

Once items are accepted, we will:

  1. record the donation;

  2. check the items are clean, safe and suitable;

  3. sort and store the items safely;

  4. match items with families who need support;

  5. distribute items through our family support process;

  6. keep records so donations are managed responsibly.

Where possible, donated items will be passed directly to families, mothers, expectant mothers, parents, carers, babies and children experiencing hardship or crisis.
